db25 connectors-revisted
« on: January 20, 2004, 10:48:06 am »
I am using db25 connectors (straight thru 6 ft cables) wired to an ipac and using mamewah.  I checked the previos thread on this and have worked most of my problems out by talking with Andy and Minwah.

Initially, I was having a lot of weird button problems which seemed to be corrected by running ghostkey.  Everything seems to work about 95% of the time, but every once in awhile I will hit a button and get kicked out of the game, joystick will act as a button press (noticed mainly in tetris), tabbed menu will come up, etc.  This also happens in mamewah,,,joystick may start a game instead of scrolling, etc.

For anybody that has used the db25 connectors, did you experience similiar problems and did you find removing the connectors solved the problem.  The previous thread discussed shortening the cables, but after reading it I was not 100% sure it applied to what I am seeing.

thanks

ss

Probably bad wiring...
Did you checked if you have any bare wire close to other bare wires that could have made contact with each other?
I had a cool sig once... But it had to go because of *someone*... You know who you are!

Yeah, you may have a short somewhere.  I use the DB connectors and have no problems at all.
