Led rings -anyone played with these?

Just stumbled across these and wondered if anyone had tried playing with them?

From what I understand they are meant to be run via a adafruit driver board but I was wondering if they could just be run on one colour or with limited functionality straight off a PSU or some how controlled with a PAC LED or similar.

Thought they could have alot of potential for lighting up joysticks, spinners or other "rounded" light requirements!

no.

they are individually addressed by a microcontroller using data. if you want just a straight up RGB led ring gargle yourself something called "angel eyes" goofs buy them for around their car headlights.

you should be able to source a standard VRGB ring that would work with a simple microcontroller or would work with a PAC led or whatever.

I bought a set of angel eyes to use for speaker rings. They are super bright. These are pointed towards the speakers because if they were pointed out, they would be too bright.

Ive made angel eyes for a car before. They are actually very easy to make. But you could just buy pele rings and be done with it for a few dollars a button, so i dont see the point.

What exactly are your plans?

Well I am planing out a way to put some RGB LED lighting behind my spinner and maybe a few other places but thats already in hand so to speak.

The problem being I think the Pele rings would protrude out to far and catch the back of the spinner which is pretty close to the CP.

There's nice use of a neopixel ring on a modded picade here. Lights up the joystick quite nicely.
