IPAC2 and USB controller collision
« on: September 14, 2016, 01:27:06 pm »
I am putting the finishing touches on my cabinet but have been stumped by a problem for 3/4 player games. Basically I have players 1/2 going to the IPAC, and have external USB ports that I can plugin players 3/4 (controllers) as needed. But when I plug in the controllers they map to the same buttons for players 1/2. I don't want to go through the hassle of remapping all the games for players 1/2, and was hoping for a plug and play solution for players 3/4.

Any ideas?

You will have device ID probs in mame etc continually pluging in and pulling out devices.

Plug em in, configure and leave.
You may also need USB ID assigning software to keep them the same each time the machine is turned on

MAME defaults include both keyboard and joystick (gamepad) inputs for each player.

Instead of remapping each individual game, remap the P1-P4 controls in the "Input (general)" menu so the P1/P2 controls are only the IPac keystrokes (no Joy1/Joy2), remap the P3 controls to Joy1, and remap the P4 controls to Joy2.

You will also have to re-remap any games that you've already remapped since the current remapped configuration file will override the new defaults.
