I'll start with a measly 48,000. I'm going to call myself 'AAA' on this one, entering YAM is too tedious.

62,900. When diving down, you can use 'dive' to immediately go up. When ascending, you can use 'dive' to slow the ascent.

I haven't gotten any half decent scores, but in the few minutes i've played, i realized that it's basically an upside down Bomb Jack (i LOVE that game).  Getting one clam at a time, the open one, produces a treasure for extra points.  Getting enough of them warrants an end of stage bonus score.  Pretty cool.

I think you have to collect 25 pearls or more to get the super bonus. That gets tricky very fast.

On a side note : Defeating the boss doesn't give you anything at all. No points, no extra, no nothing. Outrageous !

115,500.

Lost 2 lives against the stupid boss  :banghead:

Submarine item is OP

142,200

BTW, I'm playing with sound, no problems so far. There isn't even a DIP switch to turn it off anyway. Surely muting my computer won't make a difference.

I can't find it anymore, but I remember having read that someone's game crashed when he had 200k+ points. As for turning off the sound, in the options under 'Slider Control' I set the
Speaker ':mono:' OKI6295 ':oki' Volume to 0.00. The Master Volume goes to -32dB. I don't know whether that helps, but it sure can't hurt.

187,850. How the heck can you make soo many points ? I have just beaten the crab, too. Granted, I have not bothered to collect all the pearls, but IMHO that can't make a difference of 100k. The only thing that comes to mind would be ... Say, when you get the submarine extra, does it have a timer or can you blast away until the stage timer runs out ?

I try to collect as many pearls as possible. An "all pearls" level is worth 6750 points from the super bonus alone (27*250). Plus you get about 150 points per clam instead of just 50. With the sub item, there is just enough time to kill each enemy in the level twice if you remember the spawn points.

That's what I do, too ... Except for collecting all the pearls, which I can't be bothered to do. So, until someone shows up to beat my score, I won't play this any more.
On a side note, I had a glitch once (and only once), that somehow turned the submarine's timer off so I could blast away until the stage timer kicked in. I don't know how many points I exactly got, but it must have been at least 40-70k. That's why I asked about the timer.

I see. Unfortunately I never had that bug  :'(

On some levels however the submarine item spawns twice. I think this is quite a fun game. You have to figure out the best route through each level and remember it. The pearls always open in the same order, but it matters which clam you collect first as it can make some pearls impossible to reach without collecting a closed clam first.

I have figured out all this, too, but I simply have no motivation whatsoever to follow a strict pearl-collecting route. I guess right now I'm having more fun building my cab than playing this.

Ha, and here I thought that my measly score would entice someone else to jump in and take it...

Ok, well I'll have another game later today.

So i went and did it.  My admitted shallow knowledge of arcade games, combined with the desire to play something nostalgic for us *slightly* younger bucks.  Here you go:  http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,151355.0.html
