Options to play Megatouch?
« on: July 09, 2016, 04:37:09 pm »
It's been a while, so I wanted to check what the options were for playing Megatouch and Midway Touchmaster games. I know Touchmaster is available in Mame and it seems to be pretty hit and miss on different hardware, but what about megatouch? Have the mame folks emulated it yet?

nothing really to emulate... it's a linux distro. running a program.

it's more about patching out the hardware checks.

Megatouch LLC has informed me (in Jan 2015) they have retained the rights to the software so until i can get written permission to do anything with the software it's backburnered.

You can buy these machines for almost nothing these days. I never end up keeping them but they always seem to be among my most popular games.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

I'd buy an App to run on the iPad if I could. I'm hooked on a game from Midway Touchmaster called Triple Elevens that I wish I could find on iPad.

Since version 1.24u4 [1.25] MAME plays the classic Midway Touchmaster games, my favorite being Touchmaster 7000 which includes Triple Elevens.

I don't know the state of emulators available for Apple devices but
Touchmaster 7000 works on MAME4droid and other builds based on MAME 1.24u4 [1.25] or newer. So if you  can get MAME >= 1.24u4 to work then you can play Triple Elevens in Touchmaster 7000 using the touchscreen.

There also is a Nintendo DS Touchmaster that includes Triple Elevens.

I've had limited success getting mame4droid to work with touchmaster. I have 4 devices in total and 2 of them work well, 1 doesn't work and 1 of them requires me to double tap anything to register. Maybe I'm configuring them wrong, but I set them up as lightguns.

These machines are pretty cheap to buy but I have always had reliability issues with the new ones, the older CRT ones tend to be ok running something like ruby or emerald. One odd thing about the series is that I have never seen a definitive every single game ever build. Some of the classic games don't appear on newer builds etc.... As they are essentially dead now you would have thought the might have tried making some last ditch money from the home market.

I tried bringing one of these into the house.... "I've already got an ipad" was the only response I could muster out of my indifferent wife.

Would you pay for a similar game?
