Supergun Video Encoders
« on: June 27, 2016, 02:47:32 pm »
Hello all.

I am collecting parts to build a simple supergun for a couple of jamma boards I have at the house.

In all of my research on the topic I have found references to two specific video encoders, the jrok and the neobitz.  I can find neither available anywhere for purchase.

What I can find, however, are cards that convert RGB to VGA. I have a couple of these cards available. Thinking of using one in the supergun.

Anyone have a solution to convert that VGA signal to Composite?  Anyone making jrok type encoders currently?

Why would you want to convert from RGB->VGA->composite?  The more steps in the conversion chain, the crappier the picture is gonna be.

I don't *want* to. I was just unable to locate a RGB>Composite encoder because the ones continually referenced in my research are no longer available.

Nephasth linked to one from China on ebay that I may order eventually, but... China. EBay.

Let him pay more for the same exact niche product from a US seller.

Ive had more issues with American and Canadian sellers on eBay than I ever have with Chinese sellers.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Haha. I have googled, but can't corner this beast for some reason. Like I said, I keep coming back to the two cards and neither seem to be stocked in 2016.

I'll probably end up ordering one like the one you posted, though. I've just had bad experiences with China ebay before.

That's interesting, Malenko, and is good to know.

My previous hobby purchases from China (war gaming miniatures) have been bad experiences. Glad to know that is not the case in this hobby.

Thanks for this. I used it to tweak my search terms and found several for sale on ebay, all from China. And with this forum's assurances that such purchases are not to be feared, I'm pulling the trigger.

Thanks for the help, everyone!
