Until I found it in MAME, I didn't know there was an arcade version - only the NES one.

I think you are confusing this with Spelunky for the 360.

Yep.  I know it was called Spelunky, but the first time i fired up this game, it was obvious that Spelunky was remaking this game.

Haven't tried this one before but it's made by the same company (Broderbund) as Lode Runner so should be pretty good !

I'll have to give it another try, I seem to remember thinking it sucked.

Game would be better if the ghost didn't give any points. Also the treasures in the chests are random as far as I can tell?

That's a steal, definitely buy it if you don't own it yet. And while you are at it, pick up La-Mulana for $3.79 too :D

Ok, well after seeing your scores this week, this is a bit paltry, but it's a start.

It uses an 8-way. It is hard, mainly because of how the Spelunker moves. I've tried this game a few times over the years and can't stick with it. It could have been a great game.

165,000. Hate the lava pillars. Hate the triple jump near the water. Hate the horned monsters. The game is not bad, though.

195,900. Can't believe that I got close to finishing the game for umpteen times and wasn't able to do it. I even once had the last key and died close to the last door  :banghead:

Well THAT was unexpected.  I couldn't even beat my initial score.  I'll have a new game most likely this evening.

I see you sniped my score in the last minute but then you felt bad about it and didn't give yourself any points on the scoreboard. I'm OK with that ;)

Heh. Somebody actually looks at the scoreboard  ;D Fixed for the next one.

As for sniping your score : I actually did play until one and a half hours to the deadline. I made that score yesterday at about 21:30. I got some games up to 185-190k prior to that, but as they still were lower than your score I didn't bother to post them.
