Standard Metal Typer - New Project
« on: June 01, 2016, 01:31:57 pm »
Starting a new multi-year-multi-frustration restoration project - restoring a Standard Metal Typer.

Not doing it for revenue generation - this is for personal reasons to keep for myself.

Still working on getting a couple final parts for the typer workings. Need to pick brains on this other though. Looks like someone at one time converted this to accept .50 (aka 2 quarters). They put in some type of electronics hidden by the black box in the picture below. Don't have the key of course, but was wondering if anyone has any idea what it is before I drill the lock to look? Looks like it was teamed up with an old RS 12VDC 1.75amp power supply....

On the other side, quarter mech is missing, along with the coin trip switch at the bottom. I've heard that modern pinball quarter mechs will fit this - any help on what model, and what kind of switch to use at the bottom of the mech?> Any help is appreciated. Pics below.
