No Tab function

Hello again all, I have tried for hours to fix this without asking any questions. However, I am stuck. The Tab button no longer brings up the menu in my Mame emulator. I have read that I need to delete the default cfg in order to bring it back to the settings that work. I have no idea where to access the "cfg." Do I look inside my flash drive in my Retropie folder? I saw one thread where it said that it was here /opt/retropie/configs/mame-mame4all/cfg/default.cfg. However, I have no idea where that file is. Can I do this inside the menu on retropie menu? I have a pi3 b. I am so confused. please help.... :dunno
