Installing JPac

I'm trying to install a JPac and I'm confused about the part of the instructions that talks about removing the power supply. If I do that, then am I supposed to add a plug onto the AC wires for the isolation transformer and plug the PC and the isolation transformer into a power strip or something? The other thing I thought is I could leave the isolation transformer plugged in to the power supply and just unplug the wires headed to the jamma board, but then I'm disconnecting the ground on 1 and 2, which the instructions say is needed.

I've read on some other posts that maybe it isn't actually necessary to remove the power supply in all cases... Can anyone speak to this?

Well, I just plugged in the jamma connector with the power supply connected and turned on. Everything seems to be working fine.

Removing the JAMMA power supply is not mandatory.

The JAMMA connector must never be plugged in backwards if its not removed, also it will waste power if not doing anything but other than that its OK to leave it connected.

Thanks for the reply, Andy. Would I be correct in thinking that if I don't want to use the PS, then I'd need to wire up the Isolation Transformer with an AC plug to power the monitor, and then rewire the ground on position 1 & 2 / A & B on the Jamma connector (since it's connected to the PS).


I don't like the idea of wasting electricity and wearing out a brand new PS if it's not necessary.
