help with monitor in gauntlet legends cabinet
« on: May 04, 2016, 10:14:07 pm »
i stopped by my local retro game store today, they had a gauntlet legends cabinet in there that didn't work.  They bought it from a local guy, but it never worked when they got it in the store.  I told them i'd take a look at it.  It did turn on and boot, but there was nothing on the screen.  i was able to insert a coin and play blind.  so i opened it up and discovered that the monitor just wasn't plugged in at all.  i found a loose wire harness with 5 wires in it that plugged into the monitor board, although one of the wires had pulled loose from the connector.  it took me a while to locate the power wire because someone had it tucked in between a few capacitors on the neckboard, making it look like it was plugged in.  after fixing the wire harness, i eventually got it to fire up the monitor and it was just a scrambled mess.  after playing with the adjustments, i got it to where it was mostly ok, but the top part of the screen is wiggly.  i tried for about 30 minutes or so, but just can't seem to make it any better.

there are some knobs on the neck board, but they are not labeled, so i didn't mess with them.  Any ideas on what i can do to fix this?  They were very happy that i got it to a playable state, and hooked me up with some store credit, but i'd love to make it right.  here is a short video of what it is doing.  Is there any hope for this?
