Tully Cab?
« on: April 10, 2016, 10:42:11 pm »
I remember some time ago former byoacer Louis Tully made a great looking cabaret cab. He had up a project log and some basic pics of the cab's dimensions. I believe there was also a sketchup file that he linked to because he removed all of his content.

Does anyone happen to have the sketchup file he uploaded?  I found a screenshot of it but that's about it.  :(

Maybe somebody will have it and you'll get lucky. The only other person I've seen build one is johnrt and he left and removed all his content too.  ::)

I think that Project Depleted Uranium has what you are looking for.   ;D

I was perusing the forums when I saw the cabaret asteroids cabinet that Louis Tully built. This would be perfect and you can build it out of one piece of MDF.

 The Plan:

1.Use Louis Tully's Asteroid Cabaret plans

Several other measurements not shown on this copy of the plan are here.

Thanks, I did find the build threads on this cab right after i posted this message. I'm still hoping someone out there has the sketchup. My biggest concern is the angle of the control panel and monitor and along with one missing. If anyone happens to have it, I'd love to have a copy of it.

I really liked this design because I have a few small crt's i don't want to trash.
I bought a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 mdf at home depot & had them cut it into 2ft x4ft sections for me so i could get it into my car.

Should have had them do 2 - 22inch and 2 - 18inch and a 10 inch piece - that way you'd have all the nice straight sides done already ! (Think they charge about $0.10 to $0.25 cents per cut after the first one or 2 but well worth it !!)

Didn't even think to ask.
I was originally going to buy 4 2x4 pieces then the guy said he'd cut a full sheet down to those sizes for free and save me $20.

Well I do have some 17 inch monitors.
I could just leave the side pieces 24 and then rip the other pieces on my table saw 2 in. Wider also to keep it in scale. Should be enough room for it.

I'm sure you'll come up with something, only problem I foresee is that one extra 10x18 inch piece that is laid out as the 5th board on the plans since having the 4 2x4 foot pieces doesn't reeally leave any pieces that large to trim off anywhere (hopefully you have some extra scrap pieces laying around.

for some reason I thought that 5th piece was the piece left over from the monitor cut-out. probably because it's smaller on the diagram than the piece in the upper right the same dimensions.
I have some plywood scraps that should work and if not Home depot and 2x2 mdf is just around the corner.

Yeah I missed it the first time looking at the plan also but it is an 18 inch by 10 inch piece so the same 18 inch width as the other inner panels -- I think it is the back bottom piece shown in this pic (the other 10x18" piece is the back piece of the top panel I believe.)

Did you ever determine the angle of the CP? The Nintendo cabs are pretty flat, but LT's looks kind of steep (maybe 12 degrees). I'm thinking anything over eight degrees is going to be too steep.
