Framemeister?>

Hi,

I have a mame cabinet with consoles hooked upto a 32 inch LED 720p display. Was wondering if I could get a Framemeister added to make it look better? Output from the videocard is HDMI currently. Does Framemeister work with PC based systems?

A Framemeister will make your consoles look amazing, only if you're outputting a clean RGB signal. Component works too, but there have been reports that the  Framemeister's component input through the d-terminal connector isn't as crisp as an RGB signal input.  So unless you're willing to update your wiring, mod your various consoles to output RGB (NES, N64, TG16, Gamecube for instance doesn't come stock with RGB output, so you'd need to mod or get an add-on for those systems), it might not be worth it.  Read this site thoroughly for more information:  http://retrorgb.com/rgbguide.html

For PC, you don't need to use the Framemeister for up-scaling since you can already output higher resolutions from your computer.  You can however use the Framemeister's HDMI passthrough in case you want everything hooked up to the Framemeister...but then again, having all your consoles hooked up at once is a PITA. You're looking at throwing hundreds of dollars at your cabinet, for the upscaler + switchbox + cables + mod work/add-ons just to get your consoles to look even more unoriginal on an LCD. You might as well just emulate the consoles you can on your PC, and stick to the regular hook-ups for the rest.
