  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Monitors
« on: March 20, 2016, 09:28:07 am »
I'm in the process of building my arcade coffee table. I want it to be a two player setup which is not a problem but as I'm adding computer and console emulators a lot of games appear as split screen like Lotus, Sonic Etc. Using one monitor would mean that the controls for both players would be on one side of the table so the screen would be the right way for both players. This could be fun as well allowing for friendly nudges during play but would also keep the top flat and allow me to have a glass top.
The other way is to have controls at opposite ends which i think looks good design wise and then add in two monitors one for each player. This would mean that using my dual display card both monitors can have the same picture but the top of table will be raised in the middle due to the size of the monitors __/\__.
Has anyone any thoughts on this or setup something similar. Let us know Cheers. :)

Are you limited on space that you can't make the table long enough to accommodate 2 monitors?

Yes the table is built and as I've had relocate I haven't got the room or workshop anymore to do any large build work. Think I might just use one monitor with one set of controls and have ports for connecting extra controllers. Keep it flat like a coffee table.  :)
