Upscalers and scanline generators in cabs

I'm wondering what the opinion is on using one and if anyone has tried it before?

Mini SLG.  I always wanted to try one of those.

I've been rocking an early build SLG 3000 from ArcadeForge on my Faroudja VP250 for a few years now and I have to say it's mostly up there with the Sony Trinitron I used to have.  It's funny that you clearly can't get results out of the box until you go through a series of calibration settings until you "get it right" to make that perfect picture.  I worry about trying to make this stuff work in a cabinet build because they don't typically fit a 42in LG and using computer panels generally kills off all the options that makes the picture quality work (i.e. PC input labeling).  I wouldn't know what other types of displays would support the best settings and of course I'm starting to get more concerned then anything about future proofing display tech knowing how long crts last.

I do have some other options in mind where someone is working on a DIY scaler/scanline device that's already up to the Framemiester in terms of quality.  There is hope that this can become a cheap enough solution and alternative to everything, including that garbage cga/vga scaler that doesn't even do 1-1 scaling properly.
