Joystick Questions
« on: March 16, 2016, 12:20:49 pm »
Howdy all! Been creeping around the forums digging up info for my first cab that I'm soon to be fitting out.

Apparently I've been planning on going the classic newbie route, with 4-player, spinner, trackball, dedicated 4-way joystick, etc. I'm gonna be picking up a gutted NBA Jam cab to work with, so I'll have decent room for some of this.

Anyways, I'm looking at removing clutter, starting with the extra dedicated 4-way joystick. I absolutely love me some Burger Time, so I do need a 4-way option.

I'm pretty well set on having LED lit joysticks. I had planned on getting the Paradise LED lit sticks, since they got generally good reviews, are cheap and ready to go.

If I replace player 1 joystick with a ServoStik, can I replace the shaft and ball to match the other Paradise sticks? I would hate to have one oddball looking stick out of the 4.

If that's not an option, are there any other LED sticks that would match in appearance the ServoStik with the RGB option that don't cost a ton? I'm fine with single color LEDs, and would rather not pay for an RGB option that I don't want

Thanks and sorry if this has been answered, I simply could not find it.

The only way to truly get them to match in appearance is to be able to fit the Paradise shaft in the ServoStik.   If paradise doesn't sell the shafts separately, you'd have to buy an extra joystick and hope it fits the ServoStik  Having your cake and eating it too is never the cheap option ;)  On the other hand, you could get the Servostik RGB handle, and wire it yourself with a single color LED.  It wouldn't look exactly the same, but it would be the same color light.

Thanks for the reply! I wasn't sure if it was simply a shaft swap or not. Completely new to all of this. Luckily I'm a machinist, so if there are no other options, I can simply turn one.

Not really answering your question, but throwing out another option incase you hadn't considered it. Instead of LED joysticks, you could do an LED "Ring." That way you don't need to be concerned with the joystick supporting LEDs or getting matching parts for a different stick.

Here is a thread with a sample:
