Rowe CD 100 help needed.
« on: February 29, 2016, 04:13:54 pm »
My first post here.  Our local AMVETS post has a Rowe CD100 that we bought a hard drive adapter for a few years ago.  The unit has been working great until recently.  I did see a 06-02 error.  Also, the unit will just stop playing in the middle of a song when it has been running for a while.  If you turn it off for a while (and let it cool down?), it will play again for 30-60 minutes before cutting off again.  Anyone have an idea what is causing this issue.

Recently I have replaced some music with newer on the hard drive so I was thinking perhaps the HDD adapter is the cause, but I'm not sure.

if youve changed any music you must re sync the track info to the CCC. the CCC needs to know how long the tracks are so it doesn't keep playing or try to play songs that don't exist.

open the door and activate the service mode switch.

enter "3,0,popular"

turn off service mode. and wait about 3 to 5 minutes for the HD light to stop flasshing.

it should be good to go then. if it's still being weird, you might need a new drive or might need to reformat and start over again. the subs tend to rattle the drive pretty good. (i often place them on some soft foam)

Yea. I am aware of that.  I have been replacing music on this for years without issue.  After talking to a guy in NH we determined that the problem was with a signal sent from the bill reader was causing the problem.  We have the machine set to free play and after unplugging the line that goes to the bill reader from the CCC, the issue was resolved.  Weird, because for several years it has not been a problem.

Music would just stop in the middle of a song and the LED display would go blank.  For now unplugging the bill reader seems to be working.  I wonder if something on the CCC went bad?

Could be a power issue.  The bill acceptor could be dragging down the line enough to get into sketchy power territory.  Unplugging the BA tells me that rail now having less load on it is lifting that rail back into "good"  territory.

I would disassemble the main power unit in the cabinet and replace the capacitors on the board.
