A few games at my local pizza shop!
« on: February 10, 2016, 03:25:44 pm »
Went out for lunch today at a pizza shop near my work. I sorta know the guy that owns/operates the joint and so I told him "hey, you should get some arcade games up in here"

...and he says: 'well just look around the corner!"

To my delight, he had 4 games!

Bad Dudes
Operation Wolf
Area 51
Popeye

The Popeye caught my eye of course.

It was an original machine and pretty much legit everywhere.  The screen was even a CRT! (It needed some adjustment)

Even had the correct Nintendo buttons.

The cab was in pretty good shape but had a lame paint job on it. The only thing that I could see obviously wrong with it was the t-molding being 1/2 inch.

He had an agreement with the arcade guy to split the revenue. Pretty good deal for a few square feet of space in his pizza shop.

Warms my heart to see old games pop up like this.

I would have dropped some coin in that Operation Wolf for nostalgia's sake.

Correct t-molding for Nintendo games hasn't always been available, that one probably got fixed up when it wasn't available.

Also, that Popeye should probably be a Ms. Pac/Galaga combo.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Never liked Popeye? Or just think a Ms Pac/Galaga combo would fit better in that lineup?

would make him more money....so #2 from my pov ;)

Sweet though....the only place in my town with any arcade games is a Laundromat attached to a gas station.  Not my idea of a hang out.    Plus I don't think my wife would be thrilled   :D

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

You can't really find Popeye cabs in the wild these days, so I'd drop a quarter or two in it.
Ms Pac/Galaga is everywhere....it's overkill at this point. (Even though I love those games)
