Can ipac and optipac share buttons?
« on: January 13, 2004, 01:02:37 pm »
Hi all,

I just hooked up a trackball and two pinball buttons (on the side of the CP).  I'd like to use the pinball buttons as mouse buttons, and in Virtual Pinball it appears that you can't use the mouse buttons as the flippers.

Can I hook the pinball buttons up to the optipac as mouse 1 and 2, and the ipac as player 2 sw7 and sw8?

I actually tried it, and I thought I fried my ipac, but after a reboot, it was almost back to normal (long story).

If there is a way to do this, how?

Another thought was to use the Start 1 and 2 as the mouse buttons since they are right above the trackball, but that would also require hooking the ipac and optipac, and when I try to mousclick, it will also input a keyboard command.

Thanks,

-Pat S

You could also wire a dpdt switch inline to make the buttons either keystrokes OR mouse clicks not both at the same time...

I tried Brad Lee's instructions, and that worked, except the result was what I thought it would be.  When I press mouse1, a 1 is pushed as well, and this cause all sorts of problems when trying to cut and paste with the mouse, or basically do anything in windows, so it looks like a switch is in order.

Thanks for the help.
