Control panel printing
« on: February 01, 2016, 08:07:39 am »
My first control panel on my arcade was printed at staples. I then putted the print under a plexiglass and all that over MDF.

The result in my opinion is not very good looking and does not look good as nice as what I see posted here by others.

What option is the best ? Design printed on acrylic? Do again what I did but better?.

Thanks

I've used Game On Grafix for several projects with great results:

Upload your file and they'll print it for you. You can even add a polycarbinate laminate so you don't even need to put plexi over it.

Before you do all that, what was the source of your disappointment? What don't you like about what you have?

I think my biggest mistake was the plexiglass. Hand and fingerprints marks all the time, and the plexi loses its shine over time. And I think that printing at staples the quality of the print is not that good also.

You can even add a polycarbinate laminate so you don't even need to put plexi over it.

+1 on the poly. Just make sure you have a somewhat smooth surface underneath for it to adhere.
If you can read this, it means Photobucket's money grab ruined my signature photos.

+2 on the poly. Looks great, don't leave stains or prints and is very durable  :applaud:

I read this post just in time.  I've been thinking all along that I would go the CPO under plexiglass option, but that polycarb laminate looks SLICK!  So what's the process for installing?  Do you apply it and then drill the holes through the polycarb?  How is the adhesive?  Any worries about it peeling up over time?

No. First drill the holes (using the template you can order together with the CPO), sand and prime the CP, apply the laminate and finally cut or route the holes:

The adhesive is very good. No peeling at all...

I went with game on graphix.  No need for plexi.  Adhesive backed is a must!  Works great, but as everyone said, you must have a smooth surface for it to adhere to.  I use gloss paint as a primer.

Thanks for your feedback everyone.

I will go with game on graphix and do what most of you did.

It could take some time but when I get the print, i will post a before/after of the control panel.

Too much black in the design for a crappy printing setup.

Used gameongraphics.com  for all five of my cabs. Those guys totally rock!

The control panel material is super strong and looks great. :applaud:
