FS Defender Project (champion Baseball)
« on: January 12, 2004, 07:43:21 pm »
I have a defender project that I have neither the time nor ability to complete.  I am interested in selling it quick because I have to move.

Originally it was a Defender machine, over time someone converted it to a Champion Baseball which is how I got it.  It still works as champion baseball, but Im not sure how many hard core baseball fans are out there.  I got a clue that it was a defender when I discovered under the peeling control panel the marquee for defender (all hacked up) and noticed that the shape of the cab was right.  Under 4 layers of paint I discovered the original defender art, but I do not know what condition it is in, only that it is indeed there.  The original coin doors, metal mounting plate for the boards, and other things are here as well.  But right now it is a working champion baseball.

Intending to restore it I started to strip the paint, but did not get very far and decided to call it quits, but not before going onto e-bay and buying a complete defender boardset.  It looks complete, but may be missing a ROM.  but I have no way to testing it to make sure.

I am moving and need to sell this unit.  I very much prefer local pickup, but might be able to work something else for a very motivated buyer.  Ill take $250 or best offer for both the cab (with working champion baseball) and defender boardset.

I am located in El Sobrante which is in the Bay Area of California.  I can be reached via e-mail at dpdelcollo@yahoo.com.  lets make a deal.

Ok I took some digital photos of the machine, I know they are not the greatest but my digital camera is kinda funky and it is way dark in my basement.  From the pictures you can see that the original coin box is present.  The joystick currently is a 4 way for playing baseball, and all 8 of the buttons work.  The defender Marquee is a loss since it had holes drilled in it to make it into the control pannel, and the baseball control pannel overlay has been peeled off almost entirely.  THe original coin door is there, along with a center slot for Dollar coins, but only one slot has the mechs in it.  From the small patches of paint that I removed I can see that the defender art is there underneath and looks to be in ok shape based on what I have seen so far.  I just realized that I forgot to take pictures of the Defender Boardset that goes with this, Ill do that later this evening and upload the photos to the same address

If you have any further questions, please go ahead and ask them and I will do my best to answer them.  Several people have asked if I have other games, and In fact I do.
I have a zaxxon game that I repaired, it is currently up for sale on
ebay, Item #3266855568.  it is currently $150.  I also
have a Gorf machine in good condition.  unfortunately
it is currently not working.  I have checked and
rechecked nearly all of the components and have
narrowed the problem down to two area, either the RGB
interface board, or the Service/audio amp board.  I
have verified that the monitor is good, in fact, its
flawless.  I have verified that the boardset is good
and that all 5 of the mainboards are good.  and I know
that the powersupply is good.  I have seen the boards
in question go on ebay for as little as $5 each, its
just a matter of finding them and popping them in.
Cosmetically this machine is in pretty nice condition
considering it was a public arcade machine before.  I
have more invested in this machine and was hoping to
get somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 for this
machine.  Lastly I have a Heavy barrel/time soldiers.
Its a little bit of a hybrid. when I bought it it had
heavy barrel in it, and the marquee and bezel are for
heavy barrel, but the control pannel overlay and
underlay are for time soldiers.  So I went out and
bought NOS time soldiers side art, and a Time Soldiers
game board with the intention of making it a dual
board game.  Then a pal of mine became interested in
it as an Ikari Warriors machine, so I went out and
bought a working Ikari Warriors boardset.  So it has
all 3 boards.  Since he is still thinking it over I
would need to get the Ok from him before I sold it out
from under him, but I am trying to sell it for $400.
If you wanted to make a deal for more than one of
these machines, I would be happy to work something
out.

I will entertain trade offers if necessary to close this deal, but since I am moving my desire to aquire more junk has dropped off siginificantly.  If I cant take it with me, its useless and space is at a premium.  let me know if you want to try this route, but Its likely that I will be fairly stingy with the trades.
