Any advice on textured paint?
« on: January 23, 2016, 05:23:15 pm »
The outside panels of my cab will be airbrushed with automotive paint; I use to airbrush motorcycle tanks back in the late 80"s and want to go with lighting bolts and flame in foresent green with space invaders on it.

But the rest of the cab like the area around the marquee and bezel and along the bottom panel are going to get primer and spray paint. Oh and the back of the darn thing

Here is the issue, on my last five cabs I tried different kinds of textured spray paint and it never worked. Its always flat. What am I doing wrong. I want a slightly textured satin black this time. Anyone out there have a brand they had success with.

I wonder if the weather had somthing to do with my outcomes. too hot too cold mabee. :dunno
They treated me like an animal and that's what I became.

Meh, unless you're going for sanding and shiny smooth finish, I think you're better off using household paint and rolling it on with a cabinet roller.

On my last 2 builds I used a flat black all in one paint and primer from the hardware store. I sprayed it on with a hand held Wagner sprayer like this one.

The sprayer applied the paint thick with a texture. But because I wanted a smooth finish, I wet sanded it smooth with 400 grit once it dried.  :-\
