IL Eurostick or 4/8 way equivilent?
« on: January 21, 2016, 11:23:58 pm »
So I really am pretty set on getting IL Eurosticks for my 2 player bartop build as they seem to be what was authentic to the 90s arcade games.

I know you can play games like qbert, pacman, and others that are meant for a 4 way controller... with an 8 way like the Eurostick but some people seem to be set on having a stick that converts from 4 way to 8 way, or both a 4 way and an 8 way etc.

Would I really be missing out on anything by just going with the Eurostick and playing some of those 4 way games? I know sometimes there are some inaccuracies in mame for hitting diagnals where it will pick UP instead of LEFT for example if you hit diagnal UP/LEFT, when you intended the other way around.

I just figured an 8 way was better since I will be playing a mix of MAME games as well as NES and other consoles.  I'm pretty sure that there should be a way to set some emulators to ignore the diagnals all together possibly.. or maybe set diagnals to what you want but you may have to do that per game.
