I'm tempted to upgrade to windows 10 from windows 7. As far as I've read, shelling (hiding windows) and having your front end start up on power button press is more complicated than the relatively easy Win7.
An easy workaround I've found that works is to assign your power button to Hibernate. That way you always stay in your front end, and pushing the power button on your pc basically acts like shutting aTV off. Hit the power button to wake up and your PC resumes with the front end running. (tested with hyperspin on windows 10).
In hibernate mode the pc powers down enough to shut down the smart strip, for those of you that use those.
Apologies if I'm regurgitating something that most already know, but just thought I'd share, as I thought starting the front end on boot was the only option.
