Barrel cam lock
« on: November 25, 2015, 07:54:45 pm »
I received this cam barrel lock for with my coin door. I can't figure how to mount it because the nut can't go lower and touch the lock. Any idea?

Which nut are you talking about?  The large nut that mounts the cam to the panel or the small nut that mounts the latch to the cam?  If it's the small one just grab a wrench and twist it down.  That nut is meant to tap itself on the threads.

It's the little one with a small plastic ring inside. You think I can twist it down with this plastic?

Yes.

It's a lock nut.

The nylon keeps it from working itself loose.

I think the barrel is too small. What do you think with this picture? The latch should be at 90°

I think it's state of the art to bend the latch upwards (into a kind of "S" or step shape, as sketched below). A bench vise and strong pliers should do the job, or a bench vise and a hammer...

Yeah, when you buy them you get the ones closest to the specs you need but they all need a little fine tunning.
I bought a set of 6 to use for coin doors, slide out tray, control panel locks etc.
I had to trim/bend almost all of them to get a perfect slop free fit.
Just bend the arm like mentioned... its trial and error
