Sega potentiomenters 5v + or 5v-
« on: November 19, 2015, 11:36:28 pm »
Anyone know if sega potentiometers (post) in a racing cab (  in my  case Manx Tt DX motorcycle cab) are they 5v + or 5v -? (I am hacking into them and connecting them to an external power supply .... ( not using the existing  power source boards from the cab?

I don't think the Sega Model-X cabinets used -5 at all. They are (excepts for some lights and fans) +5V only.
I do all that stuff even without a Joystick ;)

That would make sense.... -5v was kind of phased out of arcades in general.  I guess it's weird or something.

They are just connected to 5V and GND. -5V was used in the early eighties because some chips needed it to operate properly.
So, if you use another supply to feed them, don't forget to connect the GND of that supply to the GND of the original supply.
