  • I'd buy that for a dollar!
Greetings All,

I noticed an odd behavior when configuring my cabinet.  I'm using the IPAC4 for my main button controller.  When I added LEDBlinky I had a really hard time configuring the buttons because when I clicked on the menu to map my button, then tried to select the button from my controller it would not take.  I found that if I sort of clicked the LEDBlinky menu to configure the button and the control board button at the same time that I could get it to register the button/keyboard stroke.  I found the same issue on HyperHQ when defining the keyboard inputs.  This makes configuration very hard.

Odd part is, when I play a game, the buttons on the console work great.  It only seems to be during these configurations that there is an issue.

I downloaded a keyboard test program that shows my keys when they are pressed because I thought perhaps one of the buttons is flakey and is always sending a signal and that's why I have such a hard time.  The keyboard tester showed no keys being pressed until I pressed a button.

Any ideas?  could it be my wiring?  the ipac4? the computer I'm running these programs on?  do others have the same issues with the button configuration programs?

I've lived with the issue for about 6 months... only because I finished the cabinet and I could play the games! but now I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get this right.  If you have any insights that would be great

Hello All,

Alright, with just a bit of testing I found that the issue is related to the iPAC4.  In windows when I started multiple IE sessions or multiple file explorer sessions they stack in my task manager.  Usually I would be able to click on the stacked IE icons in the task manager and get a quick list of all the open IE sessions or file explorer sessions.  When I clicked on one of the stacks it immediately disappeared, thus I could not select an already open IE session, I had to start a new one.

I unplugged my USB hub which hosts all my controllers, IPAC4, ultra sticks, etc...  When I did this, accessing the stacked applications on the task bar worked correctly.

I plugged the USB hub back in but removed my usb connection to the IPAC4.  This worked as well.  When I plugged the IPAC4 back in.. the issues started again.

Thus this may be a big Andy question.  Hopefully you are monitoring :-).   I could remove all the wiring and test with no wires to see if the issue is only with the board and not the connections...then put button by button back on and test each time.

did I say I was ready to roll up my sleeves..... uggg

any quick and easy solutions welcome

Thanks everyone,
-JolietBob

Did you test the iPac direct to your PC and bypass the hub?  I've heard of some usb hubs causing issues in the past...
