Pirate Ship Higemaru (Japanese: ひげ丸?) is an action/puzzle game by Capcom originally released in 1984 as a coin-operated arcade game. The game was later included in the 1998 compilation Capcom Generations: The First Generation for the PlayStation (in Japan and Europe) and Sega Saturn (Japan only). Like the other games in the Capcom Generations titles, it was included in the 2005 compilation Capcom Classics Collection for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and in the PlayStation Portable version Capcom Classics Collection: Reloaded, which was the first time the game was released for home consoles in North America.

230,400. I just love to play 4-way games with a controller that's not suited for it.

this comp seems to be a bit quiet compared to others lol
I should be able to join in being I just finished building my cab.
all I got left are cosmetic stuff, otherwise, its a functional cab.
I might give this a roll tonight.

Give it a roll! My score is so terrible I haven't posted it yet, but I will eventually (on a different comp right now).

I will tonight. might take me a while to get the spin of it.
I'm trying to look up ways I can preserve the high scores of the games in mame, and I found a few helpful threads.
ill just have to learn how to compile and such.

You've probably come across it already, but this thread is what I followed. (I'm still running .165.) Instructions include setting up the hiscore diff, which has been working pretty much flawlessly on my end! Good hunting!

Kind of has a bit of the bomberman concept to it
Switching to a 4 way stick helped make a difference for me

it takes a while to get the roll of the game.
I started off making 10k-30k per game, then eventually made my way to 60-80k.
once I switched to a 4 way, I can make it to 120k
try and get all the bonus items, and on high score decks, work on getting the most points with the captains, and get all the bonus items.
also, if you come across the item to make you invulnerable, still use the barrels to knock out pirates, which will get 200, compared to the 100 for walking into them.
and cascades. get more than one with a single barrel to really rack up, expeically high point decks, which are every 4 decks afaik.

324,550. Knocking a pirate out of his barrel nets you 200 points. Kill all pirates but one, let him hop into a barrel, knock him out of it, let him hop into the next barrel, rinse and repeat.

I wasn't sure if knocking them out was worth anything.

Ha. Not quite. Since the number of barrels per level is limited abd one barrel is destroyed each time, you can't do that as long as punching the ape. Also, you have to run around a bit, so it's not as boring  :)
