  • Gonna Build Something.......
Hey Everyone!!!

Newbie here.  Kind of :)  A bit about myself..

My name is Dezi and I live in Delhi Ontario Canada.  I work at a wood shop where we build replica WWI and WWII Aircraft Models for customers to use as "Lawn Art" or in museums, military bases etc.  As well as Model Planes for the RC Hobby.  We use a lot of Plywood, Balsa and Bass Wood.  We have 2 CNC Laser's, a CNC Router and 2 CNC Lathes that I have full access to anytime I need them +++++1 for me :)

Also we make fiberglass airplane Spinners for people that have Homebuilt planes.  Another +++++1 for me :)

I have been on here and a few other forums now for a little while and I have decided it's about time for me to build a custom Mame Cabinet.  I loved OND's Futuristic Mame Cabinet he is building and I wanted to build something close to his but with some changes.  More rounded curves, some either chrome or gold (fake) plates accents, etc.

Here are some photos for you guys to see what I am thinking about.  I am not that great with modeling in Solidworks but I hope as time goes, I will get it perfected.

I am going to build this machine kind of like how we build our planes. A lot of stick and frame building then covering and glassing.

I would love some feedback and advice on a few things.

1.  I would like to have a 2 Player CP with a trackball.  What would be a good size dimension wise?

2.  I am going to do a rotating monitor.  I have a great idea that I am working on that I will be manufacturing and selling to you all that might need one.  It will be using bearings, servo's and housed in a custom fiberglass enclosure with mounting point for a easy install.

3.  Will be building a computer to run the machine.  I have lot's of parts kicking around so that won't be a problem.

4. Audio.  Not too sure yet.  Car audio? PC speaker system (2.1)?  If I go the Car audio route, I plan to install a 8 or 10" woofer pointing down at the bottom of the cabinet and enclosing it in away from the electronics etc.  Not too sure yet.

I know this look's very close to OND's build but hey, His Custom cabinet really ROCKS!  and that is why I am going this route.  But with some of my own changes and designs.

Color isn't set in stone either.  It may be blue or yellow or Hunter Orange.  That can wait.

So I would love to hear from you guys on my initial design.  I hope to start on cutting the framework this week. I will be keeping a complete build thread on here as well once I get going.

Thanks everyone!

Dezi
