How to fit IL Euro joystick (remove washer?)

Hi all
I'm new to this arcade stuff and bought some IL Euro joysticks. But I'm struggling to fit them. Does anyone know how to remove the actual joystick itself? I understand I may need to remove the C-washer from the base but I don't know an easy way to do this and I'm afraid of breaking or damaging it. This is the joystick:

and this is my build:

.
Thanks for any help

hi,
to remove the C-Washer, just use a precision screwdriver to pry it off,
dont worry, the C-Washer wont break, your only worry is you dont lose it, as when you pry them off they tend to fly off like a bullet and disappear in your room somewhere

^^ precisely. Just stick anything thing and small in between the washer and shaft and just pop it out. When u put it back on, push it on as much as u can, then just use some pliers or something and squeeze it until it pops right back in

Thanks both. I will wait until my control panel acrylic arrives so I don't lose the washer in the meantime!
