trim for monitor bezel, ideas wanted
« on: January 09, 2004, 12:45:51 am »
one thing I am not happy with on my cab is the monitor bezel.  The cuts are not, well, exactly perfect, so there are small gaps in places where the bezel meets the sides of the cab.

Anyone use trim, or something else about 3/4" wide, on the sides of the bezel.  May be hard to do at top and bottom with funny angles, but sides should be 90 degrees.

Any other ideas?  Could get a tinted piece of plexi, but then if the cut is not exactly perfect, same problem.

thanks,

Sprucemoose

I used 1/4" round to cover my inferfections around the bezel.  Painted it black to match my cab.  Looks great.  Is it 100% authentic?  No, but it looks clean.  I really can't even notice it anymore.  PM me and I'll send you some pictures if you want.  Good luck

I was going to suggest 1/4 round as well. Seems a good idea.

I used some stuff I found in the window/screen aisle at home depot. It came in 4' strips, more than enough to cut and use for top & bottom.
It snaps apart, one piece has the sticky on the back and a guide, the other has a groove that fits the guide and overlaps a bit

here's a side view of the 2 pieces, it snaps together a lot better than pictured :)

If you have supports running vertically at the edge of the open space for the monitor you could put a piece of this on each side, lay down your bezel and snap it together. Youd still need somehting at the bottom to secure it from sliding up&down, or use another piece of this

I got it in black, but I also saw brown & gray, which you could probably paint to whatever you want
