Bill Validator on Coin Door (for Mame)

Anyone know if, for a MAME setup, a bill validator works.  Meaning, if someone were to put a dollar bill into the bill validator, (where along with 2 coin slots, there is also a dollar bill acceptor on the coin door) somehow there would be 4 credits inserted.  Not sure if I'm clear on this.

In a JAMMA cabinet the bill acceptor's credit relay output is wired in parallel with the common and normally open contacts of coin switch 2 on the coin door. Then you configure the bill acceptor for 4 pulses per dollar (each pulse is equal to one trip of the quarter coin switch).

Cool.  Would this work on a mame cab?  How do you configure the bill acceptor?

Configuring a bill acceptor varies considerably from make and model. Some are configured by dip switches onboard, some are set by jumpers, some are set by a programming card. Some bill acceptors operate on 12 volts dc, while others operate on 24 volts dc, 24vac, or 120 volts AC. You may have to contact the particular bill acceptor manufacturer for specific instructions.

I can see hooking up a coin slot to get the authentic feel of an arcade machine, but why do you want a bill validator? would you even use it?  

Maybe I'm just not use to bill validators tho. Being a Canadian, it would be rediculous to have a bill validator, considering our lowest bill is a fiver
