skee ball rail covers and reflective tape
« on: October 08, 2015, 12:38:11 pm »
Not sure if this is proper forum but recently acquired skee ball machine and the yellow plastic rail covers are cracked and pretty beaten up. The reflective tape on the machine also needs to be replaced. Anyone familiar with a source for either the yellow plastic covers or reflective tape? Thanks

Not sure about the reflective tape, but for the side covers I am happy with the pieces that I made from scratch.  Basically just 1/4" plywood that I cut to the exact dimensions and then routed the hole for the skeeballs.  Since you have the original panels, you can take all of the measurements and should be able to make an exact replica for pretty cheap.

Interesting? Where did you purchase the black balls? Are they a plastic composite? Also, did you custom make the neon light/side panels?

Got the black Skeeballs on ebay.  They were NOS (New Old Stock) and they are just like the normal wood composite balls only they are black instead of brown... apparently Skeeball only made the balls for a few years back in the 90's.  They were a bit pricey at almost $20 a ball, but I love them.

The lights running along the sides are just RGB LED strip lights that you can buy on eBay... very easy to install and they look really cool since you can change them to be any color that you want.

Appreciate the response and may end up going with wood or metal but would prefer to stay with the plastic--as original as possible. Plan to go to sign shop to see about tape and maybe they can point me in right direction for the covers to the side rails. Anyone else have an idea I would certainly be open to suggestions.

just a fyi for those that have skee ball machines. I originally contacted Skee Ball Amusements and emailed their contact number. First asked for model number of one of my machines, they responded. Then inquired about the yellow rails and tape. Didn't receive response. Then contacted the parts department and low and behold they have tons of parts for both my model H and S machine. They have the yellow rails as well as cork. The cork is way cheaper than what you find other places on line-$130 for ramp, $75 for target and $25 for back. The rails are a total of $174 plus shipping. They also have the mylar tape at a $1.19 per foot which is cheaper than replacement tape I could find. They have the .25 decals and the balls are $5.50 a piece.
I found post online about cost of cork which caused me to call parts, otherwise I wouldn't have done so. Am ordering the parts but not the cork becuase not sure how much trouble to install and my model H has some dents/damage to the cork it is certainly playable and is original.
Barry Scholl is who I spoke to and very heljpful. Hope information is help to someone.
