Hi
My project is very minimalistic and it is for all people that want a great experience with minimal costs and without any special buliding skills. I think my soultion is capable of decent compromise for combining retro consoles and arcade gaming.
The idea was to be able to play arcade games candy cab style (groovy mame, dreamcast), but also to play consoles 8, 16, 32 bit consoles with joypads. Earlier I converted MK2 cabinet to mame, however my living room is not very big, and I just lacked the possibility to sit comfortably on my couch and play with joypad.
I decided to invest in B&O MX7000 tv, as it has many nice features like slim 26" tube design, active speakers, great picture, possibility to angle a little bit backward, and grey glass filter for tube radiation. It is also tate'able.
So I got this tv set really cheap and after some time I bought used tv cabinet. The results were already great:

But I wanted to play it arcade style also, so all I had to add was a drawer with slide (must install t-molding on this) and put MX7000 to backsit position (or tate) which is really easy:

With this easy setup I am able to play comfortably console games from chair with joypad or arcade stick on my knees, or play arcade games with putting arcade stick on sliding drawer and turining telly back a little or tate.
It is not as flashy as japanese cabinets with their cases, but It doesn't feel ghetto, becuase of the great B&O MX7000 finishing. It just works great and I can connect via scart rgb whatever console I want.
