« on: September 29, 2015, 03:54:54 pm »
So im so used to buy the xin mo encoders or the pc to jamma ones that use the snes chips, that i forgot about the real keyboar encoders, so i was wondering if there are any good options still out there, imlooking to buy real keyboard encoder as im working on a new project and ima use autohotkey with it so i dont wanna mess with joysticks and xpadder.I went to the groovy website but they got joystick interfaces now. So any help would be apreciated, thanks alot.

groovygamegear still has the key-wiz.

I still like them, but I like that the ipac can be reprogrammed permanently (the key wiz requires a program to reflash the new mappings every time the PC starts)

I switched to hackedxbox360 pads hoping for better compatibility for Steam games, but have concluded that a keyboard encoder reprogrammed to not use the first four default MAME keys (CTRL, ALT, Space, Shift) is the most hassle free interface.  It just works for almost everything and for the few things it doesn't work for, the workarounds are extremely simple (see the virtual xbox360 controller thread stickied in the software forum).

I still use a key wiz for some things.  I just skip over the inputs for those keys.
It's ok as long as you don't need more inputs than that.

KeyWiz series (keyboard-style encoders) are PS/2.

GP-Wiz series (gamepad-style encoders) are USB.

For a USB keyboard-style encoder, choose from any of the ones listed in my earlier post except the KeyWiz.
