I just picked up wizard of wor, it turns on, however all I can hear is a quiet buzz from a speaker, and the monitor is on, but no picture. Can anyone help? This is my first coin op machine. And it's a cocktail machine. Please help!!!

I can't see anything visibly out of the norm, other than the power cord seems to be, sliced in with an old lamp cord. Please please someone help me...

There is one connector, that isn't connected to it's mate, I don't see anything to plug it into. I'm sorry if I'm not giving enough information to help. I can answer any questions you have to help. To the best of my knowledge anyway. I can't upload a picture because it's saying they're to large. I'll post a link to YouTube.

Four posts within an hour? Chillax, bro. If someone has an answer, they'll let you know. But late Friday night probably isn't the best time to get an answer.

Unless you have a way to test the board, there's many different things that might be wrong.

Sorry, I'm just really excited about it, and I'm beating myself up trying to figure it out.

I hear you, brother, but you have to give it some time.

Might I suggest doing a search at the forums on KLOV? You might have more luck there.

Still, no one can help me with this? I don't even know how to test to see if the boards are good or anything. I've only ever owned one other coin op game, and it worked flawlessly :-( it was called GROWL. You played as an Indiana Jones type character. Reminded me if something P.E.T.A. might have made. Rescuing animals that were being "used to benefit people"

It's very hard to get help with just the typical " my machine doesn't work, what's wrong with it?" Statement.

If the firum won't let you post pics because they're too big, reduce the size using an appropriate program.
Link to a video showing the problems.

Start with the small simple stuff.

Get a digital multi-meter
Measure for 120 volts AC at the power supply for the game.
Measure for 5 volts dc at the game board.

Is the monitor actually powering up? Listen for the crackle of it on start up.
Look for neck glow at the back of the monitor.

Look for any kill switches that may be taking out power.
Many old games have switches that kill power when an acess door is open.
These can be defeated by pulling them out typically.
(Though you describe some him on the speaker that makes me think power is there but
Then again, you have been vague in your description)

An old arcade machine takes some learning and there are not many quick answer fixes without
Some reading, troubleshooting and figuring

That manual posted above has some test points listed on page 54
(PDF 101 of 147)

Yes the monitor does power on, I can see the screen on.  Every time the speakers hum, the screen distorts a little.
I checked the kill switches they've all been accounted for, and have all Been pressed in. There is definitely power to the machine. It seems like it's cycling or something. As soon as I can figure out how to do the pictures or video, I will have it all uploaded

Ok.
In the mean time, get a meter and check the test points for the proper dc voltages.

From the info you've given, it sounds like the monitor is quite possible functioning.
When the 5volt is low on a gameboard, it will do strange things.

So I'm assuming it's not playing blind, which is when you can coin up and hear the game playing but can't see it. It normally happens when your monitor dues or the video is not otherwise properly connected.

Btw, check to make sure the video is properly connected to the monitor.

But most important right now is that you get a meter and check those test points.

Yeah, as far as I can tell, by fooling with the volume, the game isn't playing blind. And when I try to "coin up" no sounds are made to make me believe it's trying anything.
How do I make sure the video is hooked up right?? I've never fooled around with a tube monitor before, and there's plenty of warning labels everywhere lol.
I'll get a meter and check the points, first thing tomorrow. I've been busy the past week trying to move things from one house to another.

Thanks for all the help though folks. I certainly appreciate it!

So your dealing with this while also moving house?
Jeesh you like stress I guess.

Yes definitely get a meter and check those points.

It's good that the monitor appears to be working and your problem may be a simple power problem but you won't know until you meter those points

Just be careful with that monitor. It can bite if you go fiddling with it. Take proper precautions.
