Silly question: Coin Mech Door?
« on: September 10, 2015, 09:51:12 am »
Do different models of coin mech(s) use different type of coin doors - or will the Mars ME115 work with any coin door?

I have purchased a Mars ME115 coin mech to use with a Coin + DT Video Credit Board and was wondering which type (if it matters at all) of coin door I should use with the Mars ME115 coin mech?

if your door was originally outfitted with an old 5 inch acceptor, the 111 or 115 series will work fine. if your door is a standard 3 inch mech (like most mechanical coin mechs made by happ or coin controls) and you want to go electronic... you will need something like the 330 or the C120 which is a 3 inch acceptor. these will fit right in place of the mechanical mechanism.

Thank-you for the polite reply, I don't suppose you know which model or make of coin door accepts 5inch coin mechs? I have emailed a couple of arcade stores - but all sizes are for 3 inch mech only.

i believe they were mostly one-off doors made specifically by the companies that needed them.

the 5 inch mechanism wasn't particularly popular mainly because of it's size. most companies used the 3 inch to make the doors smaller and more compact. (more room for graphics on the cabinet or multiple mechanisms.)

5 inch acceptors were fairly popular with older jukeboxes (pre 1999) vending machines and coin change machines. even most of those converted to the more popular 3 inch mechanism.
