HD 2600, troubles with super resolutions
« on: September 05, 2015, 11:06:24 pm »
Hi all. Looking for some help getting GM configured. I'm currently seeing the "could not find video mode to meet your specs." error when starting GM and any ROM. Here's my setup"

Hardware:
Tiny XP-32.
Radeon HD 2600 XT
NEC MultiSync FE950+ CRT monitor

Software:
crt_emudriver_9.3_1.2b_xp_32
groovymame32_0164.015h.7z

Configuration:

- The EMUDriver appears to have installed fine, and it shows up as "Qimonda Radeon HD 2600 XT" in device manager's Display Adapters.

- I configured VMM to use super resolutions, as per instructions in "ReslList - super.txt", with the three settings indicated set to 0, as well as MonitorType = "MULTI". When I run VMM, I get the following output:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Reducing mode list... 0 video modes dropped.
 31 modelines generated.

Storing modelines in system registry...
System must be restarted for the changes to take effect.

Finished. Press any key...

After a reboot, I created mame.ini using the GM exexutable, and configured it as per instructions in "ReslList.txt", and when I run GM, I immediately get the "could not find video mode... " error. And when I start the one and only ROM I have (dkongjr.7z), I get the same error. I have attached a debug log for the ROM, as well as my mame.ini (renamed to mame.ini.txt).

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Your log doesn't show the super resolutions. Though I believe they were created fine, they could be being filtered out by your system. Try creating the modes again replacing the 2560x values by 1600x in resllist.txt, and also apply the resolution option accordingly in mame.ini (resolution 1600x0).
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Could it be the monitor type?

The '1600x' change did the trick, Calamity. Thanks very much.
Scan lines look absolutely superb on this monitor. Almost too good...
