is there app to show if wiring is correct?
« on: August 27, 2015, 09:24:18 pm »
Is there an app taht will show if everything is correctly hooked up on the joystick and buttons?  Showing the keyboard commands?  or do I have to play each game and fiddle around until it works?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure exactly what you are asking.  Is this a JAMA setup?  Using a PC?  What encoder? Nowhere near enough info to answer.

Step 1: Don't ---fudgesicle--- up your wiring.
Step 2: Enjoy.

I'm finishing up my vigolix Mame cabinet from last year...I have mini pac hooked up to 2 joysticks and 8 buttons each side.  I purchased the minipac thinking it was hook things up and they would just work.  But I'm finding out it's more difficult then that.

When I hooked up my 1 player button all the sudden my down joystick move would bring up the options menu.  Any help?

Thanks in advance....

  • Don't half-ass two things, whole-ass one thing.

OP - There is no app that I know of. The closest thing you are looking for would probalby be and on-screen keyboard to test the buttons
Like this: http://freevirtualkeyboard.com/

But that only gets you to ensure the buttons work and they are mapped to the correct keys on the keyboard. You will still need to go into mame and tweak the settings. If that is even your emulator.
If you can read this, it means Photobucket's money grab ruined my signature photos.

Ok...figured it out...

The info i'm looking for is on the larger ipac page with the keycommands and the utility I need.

Thanks!

I've used a few of the vendor's test utilities and found that I prefer degenatrons KADE utility the best.
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,131879.msg1353635.html#msg1353635

It handles multiple key presses where some others do not.

If you're just getting started, reprogram the ipac to use standard letter or number keys for the first four buttons.
The MAME defaults for those (CTRL,ALT, SHIFT, SPACE) won't work on a few other emulators.
Save yourself some headaches down the road and just don't use them to begin with.
