KADE vs Xin Mo
« on: August 16, 2015, 01:44:25 pm »
I have one of each on my 2 of my bartop kits.  I was able to test and run Xin Mo.  But with KADE, somehow i couldn't quite get it to run correctly.  I'm just using the default MAME 1P wire setting.  Do i need "joytokey" to work with KADE or it's just a standalone device?  In HyperHQ, I was able to change the key settings under the "keyboard" tab, but not under the "joystick" tab.

Do you want to use the KADE as a keyboard-style encoder ("MAME Encoder" firmware) or a gamepad-style encoder? ("USB/HID Joystick Encoder" firmware)

IIRC, Kevin tests KADEs using the "MAME Encoder" firmware before shipping them.

If you want to use the KADE as a gamepad, you need to use the KADE Loader software to reprogram it with the desired firmware as descibed in the QuickStart Guide.   ;D

I think you are slightly mis-understanding what the KADE is.  The Xin-Mo is a gamepad encoder - that's it.  The KADE is a programmable encoder and can be whatever you program it to be using the KADE Loader program.  So, follow the instructions and program the KADE to be what you want it to be, THEN plug it into your CP.

Yes, i did use the Kade Loader software.  And i'd chosen "MAME" instead of "USB/HID".  I guess the program had me at "MAME" :) Got too excited.  Wasn't expecting this to be that easy. Thanks.

Got it now.  Yeah, i didn't know KADE can do all that.  I thought i had to remap it like Xin Mo.  KADE is  money worth spent.  Thanks.
