Gamecab.com needs input for Yoke
« on: January 04, 2004, 11:15:06 pm »
He'd like our input on what kind of Grips most people would like.  Road Blaster Reproductions or Happs Triggers.

chek out www.gamecab.com for more info.

To see the differen't controllers, go to the vote page and then click on the name of the grip.

Thanks

Allroy

Thanks for that tip.  Be nice if he put that on the main page, as I wouldn't have noticed it.

It also would be nice if he posted pics of the different grips for those who don't know which grip is which.

That was what Allroy meant, you click on the names on the vote page and the images pop up.

yeah, I e-mailed him that I needed pics!  and then noticed I could click on them.  :)

Anyway, I liked the Happs...The front trigger looks more like...well...a trigger.

Man I'm excited about this.  I can practically hear Ben now...."the force is with you"  w00t   :P

Agreed, I voted for the Happs also, for the reasons that you gave.  Also Joey Holman did a yoke with Happ grips and I liked the looks of it http://www.arcadecontrols.com/arcade_joey.htm

Definately the trigger grip because as someone else said. Its a "trigger".

I voted for the RoadBlasters type without looking at the pic (didn't realise they were there at first)...

I own a RoadBlasters wheel and like the grips a lot (thus my vote) - but they are totally different to the ones pictured!  My ones do have a real trigger - I haven't ever looked at a Star Wars yoke close-up, but I'd say my grips are exactly the same as SW ones.

So after seeing the pics, I would agree the Happ ones look better.  That said, they look plastic, are the RB ones metal?

I thought the original RoadBlaster grips were like the Star Wars ones also.  The Happ grips I'm 90% sure are plastic.  I think both the ones gamecab is looking at are plastic.

I tried to click them earlier but nothing happened for me but now the pics come up   ???
I voted Happs.  The Roadblaster ones aren't like the ones on my yoke at all but neither are the Happs but the Happs ones feel good.

...and here is the type GameCab refers to...

I would love to see the 'Star Wars' type, but it seems we're out of luck there :(

As for the Happ type, I am sure they are plastic and look very similar to the ones I have on a Road Riot 4WD controller (although the 'shaft' seems to attach differently).  If that is so, they are not bad grips :)

Anyone know how much this yoke is going to run?  Maybe I'll just have to wait a week and see.  Considering that one grip costs $23.60 a piece on Happ's site, it probably isn't going to be cheap.

I wish I could give you a clue about the price, but he's being very stingy with information.

Maybe it's confusing or whatever...so...here are the Road Blaster Pics:

And here are the Happs:

hope that helps...

w00t was very popular in the Team Fortress (and TFC) communities as well.
