3/4" or 5/8" will do just fine.

I really should ask all of this in one post but, is there any free designs out there in which i can use to make my cabinet ?  I mean i can design my own but they will be useful for ideas.

Also, what is T-Molding ?

You really ought to browse the main site some more.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your question, but isn't Lusid's plans one of those?

If you don't like Lusid's, here are some more plans:

Here are hundreds of examples you can browse:

http://www.t-molding.com/cart/customer/home.php - Here is a store that specializes in it, but there are several places where you can purchase it.

Or dont comment.. lol

Does anyone know of a MAME Emulator for playstation ? If there is one then i could turn this project it a MAME one instead, i cant afford a computer to run MAME and seeing as i have most of the things to make a PSX Arcade it would be alot cheaper to use a emulator for psx instead.

So, i should change the background to white or something?
Can you comment on the artwork though? Like does it look  nice as a marquee ( i know it wont light up properly ) Is it ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- ? I aint that good at graphics so the artwork is the hardest part for me.

I don't think you should use the smoke effect so heavily. Perhaps use it as a background instead of using it in the foreground.

Isn't that the crudy windows pinball game that comes preinstalled in windows? Urgh, I hate that game! I think there are probably some better pins you could use from Visual pinball, or something... I think that board is a little to recognizable.

I think you should worry a little more about building the cab first than about the artwork in the marquee.  Get the hard part out of the way first, then go to town on all the little details....otherwise you will never finish this project.  ;D

A few comments.

Quote
"I can't afford a computer"

A "good enough" used computer for Mame costs ALOT less than a Playstation 2 does, heck, it costs less than a Playstation 2 game does. If you are talking about the original Playstation, then the above still mostly applies. The most recent computer I bought for Mame cost me $19 used.

If you are really that limited in budget, then building your own cabinet is idiotic. You would be much better off refitting an existing cabinet.  You simply aren't going to get the basic cabinet (without controls) built for under $200, add controls and you could quickly be up to $300. The cost of all the odds and ends is incredible. Not to mention the cost of the needed tools that you may not own.

Well, i AM using the orignal playstation, which i can get for free off my mate... The wood im getting is a birthday present anyway, and the controls are pretty cheap, i should hopefully be able to get a 21" for next to nothing aswell, as for getting a old arcade cabinet and refitting it, well its hard to find them around here ( UK ) so im stuck with the option of building my own which i aint paying alot for anyway.

And finding cheap computer to run mame will cost about

Ok, cabinets are a bit tougher to get in the UK, so it MIGHT be better to build then (although there are a bunch of UK collectors on RGVAC, so they must be out there somewhere). It seems that Fruit Machine cabinets are easy to get though, if you like that style of machine.

I wasn't actually thinking wood cost when I was talking about the cost to build a cabinet. The actual cost i was talking about was coin door, control panel, t-molding, t-molding bit for router, router if you don't have one, glass, plexiglass, locks, marquee light, speaker, grills, brackets, etc, etc.

I don't THINK used computer prices are much different in the UK as compared to the US though. I usually pay $20-$100 USD for my Mame PCs. Which is A LOT less than

Yeah, i agree about replacing the playstation so often...

I might hook up the playstation laser to a cdrom drive which ill spray black and mount at the front of the cab under the control panel.

Maybe im asking alot now, but does anyone know a site that sells arcade parts and ships to the UK ? and takes cheques?

Hey, thanks for the links :) But it says buyer must collect, i have no way of going that far to collect it  :(

Im selling my fish tank now, so hopefully that will raise enough funds to buy most of the wood ( i know i said ill get the wood for my birthday but thats 3 months away... can always buy the controls though )

Well, ill keep you all informed anyway.

Im gonna just hook up the Circle, Triangle, Square, X, Start and Select buttons for each player, i kinda have some ideas but does anyone know where i should put them? Im using lusids design.

I can do it myself, but it would be cool to see other peoples ideas too.
