TV power button replace.
« on: August 06, 2015, 01:10:48 pm »
I took the casing off the Monitor Ill be using today, I need to move this power button so that it is accessible from the outside of the cab, obviously i want to use an attractive button.  Ive never done anything like this before.  I need to de-solder the button, solder in wires and then connect those wires to a new button.

1. what gage wire do i use? does it matter as long as it fits in the PCB?
2. what should i search for to find an appropriate button, it has 4 contacts, does it have a certain name? any suggestions?

take a small piece of wire with both ends stripped a little.

touch it to 2 points of the 4 at a time. When the TV turns on, those are the 2 points you need to solder to your new button. You don't need to remove the old button, just solder your leads to the bottom of the board.

Yep - any momentary switch will work just wire it like you would a normal button using the NO and Gnd connections on the microswitch.

^ This.

And since you aren't wiring anything else in line with the button it doesn't matter which wire goes where. Just run 1 lead to the ground prong and the other to the NO (Normally Open) prong.
