Availability of spinner knobs?
« on: August 05, 2015, 05:46:40 am »
Apologies, if this question is in another thread but "spinner knobs" brings back WAY too many results for me to check them all.

I'm just looking to find out if there is another source to buy spinner knobs or if not someone/somewhere that will custom build them?

I'm planning on using TT2's (I used SpinTraks on my last build and they were excellent but I thought I'd give the TT2's a try this time) so particularly looking for knobs that will fit the TT2.
A lot of the nice old ones like the DOT one don't seem to be available anymore and my trawl of the internet has been pretty fruitless.
I'm also assuming Randy doesn't do any other ones except whatevers advertised on the GGG site (but again I could be mistaken).

Any guidance would be appreciated.

What's wrong with the spinner knobs that groovy game gear sells?
I have the token top premium knob and love it.

It has a very nice weight to it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the GGG knobs. I'm just looking for something that fits the design aesthetic i'm looking for (the cab will be mostly white). The big blue might work but i don't want to have to add blue into the scheme just to accomodate the spinner colour. Maybe i could spray the big blue but not sure how that would take.

I was not thrilled with the stock big blue knob. Too light for my taste.

In my opinion the token top can go with any decor quite nicely

That could be a problem all right. Haven't ordered the TT2's yet but I was planning on just getting the stock knob.
I'm used to the pretty heavy aluminium ones that came with the Spintrak. Unfortunately I took them in and out too many times and the connections sheared away from the board and only one could be fixed. That's one of the reasons I'm planning to use the TT2, slightly different connection at the board and just try something different too I guess.

Will take a look at the premium knob but if anyone else knows of any other sources I'd love to hear from them.

The premium knobs are really nice, I have the black inset one. They're a good weight but I still prefer using it with the energy storage cylinder. These things will take any 1/4" (6mm) set screw knob. There's a ton of different kinds of knobs on Ebay.

I agree, I still use the energy cylinder too

Thanks guys. All useful advice. I wasn't going to get the ESC (as I didn't like the flyweights on the SpinTrak) but I'll definitely pick them up now.
Also can't believe how many random knobs out there use a 6mm shaft.
Thanks again.

I have to come clean and say I never really looked at those premium knobs properly. There's actually a few options around them in terms of colours and not having a token inlay etc. They might do the trick.
