Idling in mame games cause automatic "alt+tab" to mala
« on: July 30, 2015, 03:12:52 pm »
I have just changed to Mala (beta) setup, only mame64 used for emulation so far..

first everything seemed ok but I have found one disturbing bug or feature

When i start a game and let it idle, after a couple of mins Mala takes over and the game is run in the background!

.. so far the only "workaround" I've managed is to bind a macro for shifted keys to "Alt+Tab" me back to the game after this have happened.

Any ideas?

Really? No input on this, seems like it would be a common issue.

Can it be the Ipac 32 thats acting up?

Story is that after about 3-4 minutes away from controls in a mame game - the game escapes to background and Mala frontend shows, with the "loading game" screen in the middle.

Only thing to do is to Macro the alt+tab command or sometimes (with VPinball) use a macro alt+f4 -  pretty annoying!

Win 7 64, all sleep/hibernation turned off in win, Ipac 32, Mame64, Mala (beta)

Any suggestions much appreciated =)

When you see MaLa in the foreground it probably means that your app minimized. That is not a frontend issue. I have workarounds for some emus that load a background picture behind the app I am running and thus "hide" the MaLa screen. Some of my emus run windowed so it would show the frontend in the background. Search for 64bit issues for MAME. I'll check my 32bit version running on Win7-64. Usually never gets to sit idle. :)

No issues with MAME 32bit 147b. No search results on 64bit show issues. Maybe a local program stealing focus (AV/IM/etc.)?

I was having a similar issue with Window 8.1 until I disabled my virus scanner.
