TMNT Konami 4-player 6 button layout
« on: July 28, 2015, 01:31:31 pm »
Has anyone done a modified version of one of the konami 4 player control panels to add 6 buttons to the two center players? I have a trashed tmnt that needs a new control panel and Id like to keep the stock look but would like to use it for fighting games as well. Would like to see how it looks before trying it myself.
I don't know if you know this but I'm sort of a big deal. I own many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Thanks. Something like the midway cab is what im wanting. I want to keep the stock tmnt control panel size and look if possible.
the 1 player buttons look pretty close to the 2 player joystick there.

Yeah, but that's the best you're going to get with what you want to do.

Funny, I'm actually in the exact same position as you, having a converted TMNT cab and wanting to keep the CP as close to original as possible but while adding additional buttons for players 1 and 2. I thought for sure, someone would have done this already.

About an inch closer than on a dedicated SF 2 panel,

well I actually got kind of a crazy idea I think Im going to keep my cab stock and restore it back to a tmnt and then buld a new cabinet from scratch to match except a few inches wider so I can get a 32" Lcd into it. I will only need to make the cabinet 3" wider and I can make the control panel an inch wider. To match the sf2 panel spacing.  I was thinking I will get some turtles in time artwork for it. I will have to do some graphic work to get a wider marquee and artwork for the control panel but that shouldnt be to hard.

Why don't you use a 27" 4:3 VGA arcade monitor instead. Won't require you to make the cabinet much bigger, it has more real estate and is actually the right shape.

Ive thought about it and Im pretty sure it would fit in the original cabinet. I may still go this route.
