Looking for crt 19 inch arcade monitor with 15 pin D-sub
« on: July 23, 2015, 06:21:25 pm »
I am currently looking for a 19 inch crt arcade monitor with 15 pin D-sub to connect to my pc for mame. Are there any available? Are only tri sync monitors that have 15 pin D-sub connection?

They do exist. The first versions of the Derby Owners Club used TOEI 19" crt's with vga in that sync'd to 640x480 only. Only reason I know this is I use and have 4 of these (but not for sale), but they are nice monitors.

good day.

I figure it out all I need to buy is VGA Breakout Cable from ultimarc.com and a 19 inch WELLS GARDNER cga monitor. Does anybody know where I can get one in good condition with minimal burnt in or no burnt in.

If I knew where to get one, I'd buy it myself.  >:D

Put a wanted ad in your local Craigslist. Where are you located?

There's quite a few collectors in the New England states. I would put a wanted ad in the big city Craigslists in your vicinity and see what happens.

Because CRT arcade monitors are no longer manufactured and NOS monitors are all but completely dried up.

You will probably have good luck finding a 19" PC CRT monitor on craigslist.  Many of them can be decased and used for arcade purposes.

Or leave them in their case and mount on a shelf.  Much easier.

Yeah, Jack's right. That's actually what I do in many cases. I just get 19 or 20 inch CRTs, decase it, and mount it like an arcade CRT.

I want the best authentic arcade picture as possible. I don't think you can't do native resolutions with pc crt's. I just gonna have to wait until one is available. I would like to get a 19 inch $150-$300 max.

Way overrated. I went down this path, spent billions (ok, more like 100's) only to find a large slew of games that wouldn't play properly on the arcade monitor.

Went PC CRT and haven't looked back. The only time I really need an arcade CRT is for my jukebox which has a molded plastic bezel that fits a true 19" arcade monitor.

Where exactly in New York?  I make regular trips to Queens, NY where my parents live.  I have a 19" CRT that I was keeping as a spare but I can give it up for a fellow BYOAC'er.

PM me.

It's not just to connect with the VGA signal from the VGA output from a PC, using a "break out cable" will not make the correct signal. VGA is 31 KHz and higher. TV, CGA, Aracade (standard resolution) is 15 KHz. The best option if you want to output to an Arcade monitor is to buy an Arcade VGA board for your PC, the second best and cheaper option would be to buy a VGA - CGA converter board.

I wish I would of known sooner. Will the VGA - CGA converter board work without a jamma board or harness. Just with the PC and the VGA crt arcade monitor?

Not sure about that. Hmmm.  I've only used them to covert a JAMMA PCB to a PC VGA monitor.

Offer still stands for a normal PC CRT monitor for free. I could use the extra room.

I have two 21" CRTs and one 19" CRT. Also have two 21" 4:3 LCD PC monitors. Take your pick. I'm in Stamford, CT (about 45min from NYC). You are welcome to take a look and try them.

Thanks for the offer you are very generous. I wanna try how slg 3000 looks with groovymame first because I spent $270 on the vga arcade monitor. Once I received the slg 3000 and if i am not satistisfied how it looks then I 'll look for other options.

CGA - VGA converter will work without a JAMMA board, only needs PC and monitor. It will not output a native resolution, only scale to one resolution, and give you some ms delay, but gives you a good result for small money. There is possibility to run software to make your VGA card output 15 KHz directly without a converter, but it's difficult to get right, you can damage your monitor, it doesn't work with all VGA cards, and so on,
