  • My cab is never done...
right hand buttons vs. left hand buttons
« on: January 03, 2004, 12:00:20 pm »
So I picked up a dynamite duke cab yesterday. It was probably a conversion from a track and field. It has buttons on both sides of the stick. I have built my cabs with the buttons to the right and have argued in the past that this is where they belong. Well after about 15mins of playing I realize that I'm using the buttons on the left with the stick in my right hand.

No question really just found it enlightening...
My statements are my own opinions. They have the value that the reader gives them. My opinion of my opinion varies between foolish and brilliant and these opinions often change with new information.

How old are you?

(heh nevermind, checked your profile..)

Im gonna geuss you spent a bit of time in the arcades back in the mid-late 80s, when a lot of the games were ambi- buttons on both sides like your describing

I used to play that way all the time, stick in the right, buttons on left, but after not really playing for many years I never went back out of habit.. I do occasionally if the game calls for it

I'm left handed and like the buttons on the right.  I initially used them left handed like... but after a while...  Joystick motions where more important then the button presses (fighters)...   So I'm MUCH better at learning super uppercuts and other joystick motion stuff then many right handed people... because I use my left to do them.

but it's all what your used to...

Also... if you DO play fighter games... and you have friends over to play against....  Anything that feels weird to them gives you a leg up... And allows you to trounce on your apponents :)

I prefer stick on the right, buttons on the left.  Just a personal preference I guess. That's how my control panel is layed out.
