jpac - Slow / Laggy button response
« on: July 07, 2015, 09:05:15 pm »
New cabinet I just picked up that has the following:

Mortal Kombat Cab
J-Pac
Original 15khz monitor
P4 Computer running Windows XP / Hyperspin / GroovyMame
AVGA3000

My issue is that the buttons seem really slow / laggy. I know that if I play a game that requires fast button presses it's almost like it's only catching every second press. I had another cabinet that I put together myself with the Ultimate I/O board and it had no button lag / choppy response. It also had a lot faster computer in it though.

I've got a faster computer here to swap in but am just waiting on a video card to come in the mail so I can install the crt_emudriver package and go that route. I'm hoping the faster computer addresses the issue but not sure if it will.

I did see a couple of other threads about a new firmware that tweaks the button lift time or something along those lines.

My problem is that I think I've got an older J-pac board in this machine as I had to install the older software off of the ultimarc site.

Any ideas? Will the faster computer address my issue? Is there a newer firmware for the older boards that might address the issue?

Um yeah, that's the way I got it.

Hence the new machine that I have sitting here to replace it. Just waiting on a video card.

New machine is a core 2 duo at 3ghz which should be just fine.

The jpac isn't the issue, it is the computer or a possible weak grounding issue.
