Control Panel Buttons As Mouse Buttons - How?
« on: January 01, 2004, 10:24:58 pm »

When in the Windows enviroment, I'd like to use a trackball instead of a mouse (for obvious reasons).

But....I don't want to put two dedicated buttons on my CP for this purpose.

Can I use two existing buttons, and how do I go about this? Hack a mouse?

Whatever optical encoder you use should have inputs for mice.

yeah, how is your tball connected?  use the buttons on that.

On my CP I have this layout
456
123

a and 2 are mouse buttons.  For the most part they are dedicated, though I have a toggle switch to switch them back to keyboard.

I might make them permanent and button 3 will be enter.

I'm just trying to get answers in advance.

Thanks.

Another way is to use Mousekeys (control panel, accessibility options, mouse). This assigns num pad keys as single and double click. Then you can program your keyboard encoder to suit.
